I wanted to visualize or easily see the folder sizes of all the folders on the drive… something Windows does NOT make easy.
Fortunately, there’s an old but really cool (and free) tool called WinDirStat that will not only give you all the numbers but also draw you a pretty picture.

WinDirStat – Visualize Your Windows Hard Drive Useage & Folder Sizes |
I identified some game accounts, a
REALLY big folder of photos, a SyncToy profile, an unneeded Windows
hibernate file that were all occupying critical space.
Do not – do not – do not – (Did you hear me? Do not!) go deleting files willy-nilly unless you are 100% sure what these files or folders do.
This tool shows you the space they are using (and the space their folder is using) but it does NOT tell you that these files are safe to delete. In fact, it makes it very easy to delete files that you should not if you ignore the popup warning that warns you about such things.
This is one of those cool apps that you’ll want to bookmark my post (and/or plus it on G+ so it comes up in search for you). You might not need this now, but when that hard drive starts getting full up, this will help you see if you just need to clean house… or if it’s time to buy a bigger hard drive!

WinDirStat is the perfect free tool to provide a much needed folder size analysis for Windows users! And the best part is: it’s free!
